A breakdown of 2013’s most fascinating video game moment
In the wee hours of November 10, 2013, a man who goes by Bananasaurus Rex performed a genuine video game miracle. He completed a “solo Eggplant run.
If you’re not a Spelunky junkie, the words “solo Eggplant run” won’t mean very much to you. But as I see it, Bananasaurus Rex’s feat is an important, downright historic achievement — not just for Spelunky, but for games at large.
I want to help you understand why.

Spelunky on PS3 and PS Vita gets Daily Challenges
The PlayStation 3 and PS Vita version of Spelunky now has Daily Challenges, developer Derek Yu announced today on the PlayStation Blog.
The feature was originally available in the PC version of the game. Each day, it generates a set of levels that have the same seed for everyone playing it. Players only get one shot at the Daily Challenge each day. Yu said the feature cranks up the tension of playing Spelunky, and if a player performs well in a Daily Challenge, they can attribute it to their skill and knowledge of the game, rather than luck of the draw.
